For decades, there have been feuds relating to the justification of the bombing. Was the U.S justified? It depends on your opinion. The United States was justified due to the unprovoked attack and bombing of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, which occurred three years prior to the bombing of Hiroshima, it was necessary to stop the war because it saved thousands of American lives. Until then, the fight had never been on United States soil. Innocent men, women and children did not have to worry about being killed on their land until the infamous day: December 7, 1941, the attack of Pearl Harbor. On that day, the Japanese took to the skies with 423 planes, arriving in Pearl Harbor, killing a total of 2,403 and wounding 1178. Hitting 18 U.S ships, it crippled the U.S naval fleet in one day. Little known to the people, the bombing also destroyed 180 fighter jets used in the U.S Air Force. This was an unjustifi ed, barbaric act and dropping the bomb on Hiroshima was justified. The United States was justified in dropping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima due to the unwarned attack on civilians and docked naval ships at Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. Again, this will be an expensive venture. e)Other Target Audiences Although five target populations have been chosen, there are associated groups, who have great influence over these potential students that need to be marketed. Marketing initiative needs to be developed to recruit not just the potential students, but also these groups that are influencing factors in their decision to pursue a degree. Direct Mail While e-mail can help to save on printing and postage costs, it cannot be used alone, especially in efforts to attract non-traditional and graduate students. The problem is many people change e-mail addresses often, or they do not check their e-mail on a regular basis. E-mail is simply not the most reliable form of communication. By promoting such a high quality program, prospective students will perceive MEU as a leader in an important area of management, leadership and training, which then reflects positively on the entire University. Scholarship Development With rising tuition costs at public universities in UAE, it is recommended that scholarship development should be started to accelerate the pace to help potential students offset the price of pursuing a degree. Furthermore, a concentrated effort should be made to develop more opportunities for emirates’ to train them for facing corporate environment. Enrollment Planning Committee The Enrollment Planning Committee shall be chaired by the Vice Chancellor for Student Services and Enrollment Management. The purpose of the Enrollment Planning Committee is to establish goals, make recommendations to the Chancellor, suggest strategies and assist in setting enrollment targets for various areas of the University. The EPC will engage in the discussion and provide support and a framework for the following: †¢An Admissions Plan which identifies strategies and enrollment targets †¢A clear marketing plan that is tied to established enrollment goals †¢The Enrollment Planning Committee is tied to the Purpose Group Reports (in their final and accepted forms) and the mission of the institution. The EPC shall meet on a quarterly basis to discuss, recommend and move forward enrollment related issues. Membership of this committee would include Internal Communication Communicating the marketing initiatives to the campus community will be a major undertaking in the next few months. This can be done through a series of workshops, e-mails, and the formation of a Marketing Representatives Group. This group would be made up of designees from each unit on campus. The group would meet monthly to review marketing initiatives across units, and to coordinate efforts. Each representative would report back to their unit on the ongoing promotional efforts across the university. Internal Marketing For faculty and staff members, marketing is part of routine everyday business. Marketing is in the form of responding in helpful ways to phone calls or e-mails, assisting students with problems or questions, and being involved in the community. A continued emphasis must be placed on services to students at the institution. If a student or alum talks about their experience at MEU as positive, it is one of the most believable and affordable forms of advertising. Media Relations MEU has benefited in the last year from a strong relationship with the media. Mounting a media strategy campaign can help position the university as the ideal place to receive a liberal arts education in UAE. This song starts off with a very light rhythmic sound, that I honestly can’t even put to words, before slamming you with a drum solo that will bring tears to your eyes, which leads r ight into potentially one of the most profound yet simple verses I have ever heard. If the first verse didn’t hit me this hard (it did), then the second one did. In the next few seconds of the song, Tyler introduces his brother with a â€Å"Here’s my brother, and his head’s screwed up, but that’s alright.† At which point he starts rapping, and I’m not even going to try to tell you what he said, because It’d take me all day, as it went pretty dang fast. but it is amazing. That’s the only way that could even come close to describing it. So overall, I would give this song 5 out of 5 Holy Mackerels. The album is called Regional at Best, and other notable songs on the album are Glowing Eyes, Be Concerned, Clear, and Anathema. But the entire album is incredible, and I can’t recommend it enough.

The Hundred Years War History and Summary The Hundred Years War was a series of connected conflicts between England, the Valois kings of France, factions of French nobles and other allies over both claims to the French throne and control of land in France. It ran from 1337 to 1453; you’ve not misread that, it is actually longer than a hundred years; the name derived from nineteenth-century historians and has stuck. Context of the Hundred Years War: English Land in France Tensions between the English and French thrones over continental land dated to 1066 when William, Duke of Normandy, conquered England. His descendants in England had gained further lands in France by the reign of Henry II, who inherited the County of Anjou from his father and control of the Dukedom of Aquitaine through his wife. Tensions simmered between the growing power of the French kings and the great power of their most powerful, and in some eyes equal, English royal vassal, occasionally leading to armed conflict. King John of England lost Normandy, Anjou, and other lands in France in 1204, and his son was forced to sign the Treaty of Paris ceding this land. In return, he received Aquitaine and other territories to be held as a vassal of France. This was one king bowing to another, and there were further wars in 1294 and 1324 when Aquitaine was confiscated by France and won back by the English crown. As the profits from Aquitaine alone rivaled those of England, the region was important  and retained many differences from the rest of France. Origins of the Hundred Years War When Edward III of England came to blows with David Bruce of Scotland in the first half of the fourteenth century, France supported Bruce, raising tensions. These rose further as both Edward and Philip prepared for war, and Philip confiscated the Duchy of Aquitaine in May 1337 in order to try and reassert his control. This was the direct start of the Hundred Years War. But what changed this conflict from the disputes over French land earlier was Edward III’s reaction: in 1340 he claimed the throne of France for himself. He had a legitimate right claim- when Charles IV of France had died in 1328 he was childless, and the 15-year-old Edward was a potential heir through his mother’s side, but a French Assembly chose Philip of Valois- but historians don’t know whether he really meant to try for the throne or was just using it as a bargaining chip to either gain land or divide the French nobility. Probably the latter but, either way, he called himself the King of France. Alternate Views As well as a conflict between England and France, the Hundred Years War can also be viewed as a struggle in France between the crown and major nobles for control of key ports and trading areas and equally a struggle between the centralizing authority of the French crown and local laws and independencies. Both are another stage in the development of the collapsing feudal/tenurial relationship between the King-Duke of England and the French King, and the growing power of the French crown/tenurial relationship between the King-Duke of England and the French King, and the growing power of the French crown. Edward III, the Black Prince and English Victories Edward III pursued a twofold attack on France. He worked to gain allies among disaffected French nobles, causing them to break with the Valois kings, or supported these nobles against their rivals. In addition, Edward, his nobles, and later his son- dubbed The Black Prince- led several great armed raids aimed at plundering, terrorizing and destroying French land, in order to enrich themselves and undermine the Valois king. These raids were called chevauchà ©es. French raids on the British coast were dealt a blow by the English naval victory at Sluys. Although the French and English armies often kept their distance, there were set-piece battles, and England won two famous victories at Crecy (1346) and Poitiers (1356), the second capturing the Valois French King John. England had suddenly won a reputation for military success, and France was shocked. With France leaderless, with large parts in rebellion and the rest plagued by mercenary armies, Edward attempted to seize Paris and Rheims, perhaps for a royal coronation. He took neither  but brought the Dauphin- the name for the French heir to the throne - to the negotiating table. The Treaty of Brà ©tigny was signed in 1360 after further invasions: in return for dropping his claim on the throne. Edward won a large and independent Aquitaine, other land and a substantial sum of money. But complications in the text of this agreement allowed both sides to renew their claims later on. French Ascendance and a Pause Tensions rose again as England and France patronized opposing sides in a war for the Castilian crown. Debt from the conflict caused Britain to squeeze Aquitaine, whose nobles turned to France, who in turn confiscated Aquitaine again, and war erupted once more in 1369. The new Valois King of France, the intellectual Charles V, aided by an able guerrilla leader called Bertrand du Guesclin, reconquered much of the English gains while avoiding any large pitch battles with the attacking English forces. The Black Prince died in 1376, and Edward III in 1377, although the latter had been ineffectual in his last years. Even so, the English forces had managed to check the French gains and neither side sought a pitched battle; stalemate was reached. By 1380, the year both Charles V and du Guesclin died, both sides were growing tired of the conflict, and there were only sporadic raids interspersed by truces. England and France were both ruled by minors, and when Richard II of England came of age he reasserted himself over pro-war nobles (and a pro-war nation), suing for peace. Charles VI and his advisors also sought peace, and some went on crusade. Richard then became too tyrannical for his subjects and was deposed, while Charles went insane. French Division and Henry V In the early decades of the fifteenth-century tensions rose again, but this time between two noble houses in France - Burgundy and Orlà ©ans - over the right to govern on behalf of the mad king. This division led to civil war in 1407 after the head of Orlà ©ans was assassinated; the Orlà ©ans side became known as the Armagnacs after their new leader. After a misstep where a treaty was signed between the rebels and England, only for peace to break out in France when the English attacked, in 1415 a new English king seized the opportunity to intervene. This was Henry V, and his first campaign culminated in the most famous battle in English history: Agincourt. Critics might attack Henry for poor decisions which forced him to fight a larger pursing French force, but he won the battle. While this had little immediate effect on his plans for conquering France, the massive boost to his reputation allowed Henry to raise further funds for the war and made him a legend in British history. Henry returned again to France, this time aiming to take and hold land instead of carrying out chevauchà ©es; he soon had Normandy back under control. The Treaty of Troyes and an English King of France The struggles between the houses of Burgundy and Orlà ©ans continued, and even when a meeting was agreed to decide upon anti-English action, they fell out once more. This time John, Duke of Burgundy, was assassinated by one of the Dauphin’s party, and his heir allied with Henry, coming to terms in the Treaty of Troyes in 1420. Henry V of England would marry the daughter of the Valois King, become his heir and act as his regent. In return, England would continue the war against Orlà ©ans and their allies, which included the Dauphin. Decades later, a monk commenting upon the skull of Duke John said: â€Å"This is the hole through which the English entered France.† The Treaty was accepted in English and Burgundian held lands- largely the north of France- but not in the south, where the Valois heir to France was allied with the Orlà ©ans faction. However, in August 1422 Henry died, and the mad French King Charles VI followed soon after. Consequently, Henry’s nine-month-old son became king of both England and France, albeit with recognition largely in the north. Joan of Arc Henry VI’s regents won several victories as they readied for a push into the Orlà ©ans heartland, although their relationship with the Burgundians had grown fractious. By September 1428 they were besieging the town of Orlà ©ans itself, but they suffered a setback when the commanding Earl of Salisbury was killed observing the city. Then a new personality emerged: Joan of Arc. This peasant girl arrived at the Dauphin’s court claiming mystic voices had told her she was on a mission to free France from English forces. Her impact revitalized the moribund opposition, and they broke the siege around Orlà ©ans, defeated the English several times and were able to crown the Dauphin in Rheims cathedral. Joan was captured and executed by her enemies, but opposition in France now had a new king to rally around. After a few years of stalemate, they rallied around the new king when the Duke of Burgundy broke with the English in 1435. After the Congress of Arras, they recognized Charles VII as king. Many believe the Duke had decided England could never truly win France. French and Valois Victory The unification of Orlà ©ans and Burgundy under the Valois crown made an English victory all but impossible, but the war continued. The fighting was halted temporarily in 1444 with a truce and a marriage between Henry VI of England and a French princess. This, and the English government ceding Maine to achieve the truce caused an outcry in England. War soon began again when the English broke the truce. Charles VII had used the peace to reform the French army, and this new model made great advances against English lands on the continent and won the Battle of Formigny in 1450. By the end of 1453, after all, English land bar Calais had been retaken and feared English commander John Talbot had been killed at the Battle of Castillon, the war was effectively over.

Creating an IT Infrastructure Asset List Abstract This document was created following Lab #1 titled Creating an IT Infrastructure Asses List and Identifying Where Privacy Data Resides in the laboratory manual that accompanies Legal Issues in Information Security. One of the most sought after and stolen data is the organizations private customer data. The theft of this information can be used for a variety of reasons including identity theft. The protection of this important privacy data is best implemented with a well-planned strategy focused on minimizing the risk of improper disclosure. An asset is anything that contains value to the organization. Inventory is considered part of an asset. The purpose for identifying assets and inventory is to quantify them and provide insight of threats to each asset. This is accomplished by using Risk Management. Asset Identification is more than creating a list of the hardware and software in the computer, it must include the information, or data, that is processed on those computers (Kadel, 2004). Part of the identification should not only be what the assets are, but also who in the organization is responsible for the asset. Once an organization has identified all the assets they can assign a value, and classification to the asset. It is important to keep asset and inventory documentation updated when assets are added or removed from the organization. Asset classification is a process in which each asset identified is given a classification. The organizations security policy should make mention of relevant labels for classification. The lab manual offers the following three classifications Critical, Major, and Minor. One purpose of asset classification is to label an asset so it receives an appropriate level of protection. This label needs to be defined by upper level management but the IT and security staff is then responsible for implementing the required controls. It is important that senior management make this decision. Without data classification information protection decisions are being made every day at the discretion of security, system, and database administrators (Fowler, 2003). An organizations Web site would be classified as minor in this scenario because it is required for normal business functions and operations. The e-commerce server on the other hand would be considered critical because of what the asset does and the type of data it holds. In the lab manual, the web server Linux Server #2 is responsible for hosting the web site. Its function is required for normal business functions but does not contain any information to warrant it being classified as Major and does not represent an intellectual property asset or generate revenue. The e-commerce server on the other hand does generate revenue and is considered as an intellectual property asset. It also contains a customer database subset which contains information that needs to be protected. One reason customer privacy data would be classified as critical is to meet compliance guidelines. For example, the Gramm-Leach-Biley Act (GLBA) is a law that was passed in 1999 by congress. It requires financial institutions to protect Nonpublic Personal information. One section, known as the safeguards rule required federal bank regulatory agencies to issue security standards to organizations they regulate. If an organization does not follow the law, they can be penalized. The most compelling reason to classify information is to satisfy regulatory mandates. For example, the Gramm Leach Bliley and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Acts mandate information protection controls for financial and medical organizations, respectively. Although information classification is not specified as a required protection measure, it is implied by special handling requirements for sensitive, medical and financial information (Fowler, 2003). Intellectual property would be considered critical because it is intellectual property. Intellectual property by its nature should be handled as critical. Assume the following example, your organization makes the best widgets, because they are the best, consumers are willing to pay extra for your widgets. This is because they perform better, and last longer than all other widgets being offered by your competitors. If the competitors had access to your widgets design and manufacturing process, your company would lose its competitive advantage over that competitor. Consumers would no longer rate your widgets as the best, and would buy competitors widgets. Loss of this intellectual property would result in your organizations loss of their competitive advantage and revenue. Some security controls for HIPAA compliance is subcategory PR.DS-5: Protections against data leaks are implanted this can be mapped to the NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 4 controls of AC-4, AC-5, AC-6, PE-19, PS-3, PS-6, SC-7, SC-8, SC-13, SC-32, and SI-4 (HHS, 2016). AC-4 as defined by the NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 4 is referred to as information flow enforcement. Flow control restrictions include, for example, keeping export-controlled information from being transmitted in the clear to the Internet, blocking outside traffic that claims to be from within the same organization (NIST, 2003). A data classification standard helps with asset classification because it sets a framework for uniformly assignment of classification. This in turn gives the organization guidance on what assets are most important and need to have the highest security controls implemented. This is also beneficial because it gives members of the organization an easy way to determine how to handle such assets. Under the SI family of the NIST 800-53 Rev 4, you could implement SI-16 known as Memory Protection. You could implement data execution prevention, and address space layout randomization. You could also implement SI-7 known as Software, Firmware, and Information Integrity. The intent of this control is to protect against unauthorized changes to software, or firmware. This should be implemented using an integrity verification tool, that reports any inconsistencies or changes that were not approved. In the IA family, you could implement Identifier Management or IA-4. In this case the organization could user role based access to the server. If your user account does not have access to the resource, you will not be able to access it. I would recommend implicating two factor authentications for all users in the Mock infrastructure. This is important because one factor authentication such as something you know is considered a weak form of authentication. A solution such as a device that generates a random token that is also used would make the customer data much more secure. I would also implement a encrypted VPN solution for users that connect over to the ASA_student switch. A VPN uses a secure tunnel and all traffic through the tunnel will be encrypted. Last, I would make modifications to the network layout, the current layout does not allow for protective isolations. For example, the web server should be positioned in a DMZ and separated from the other components of the network. An organization can use risk analysis to help mitigate risks, threats, and liabilities. A risk assessment is used to document the identity of assets, threats, and how the organization wants to mitigate the risk. The overall purpose of risk analysis is to identify the assets within a company and their value so that you can identify threats against those assets (Clark, 2014). The risk assessment is broken in to separate phases. The first phase is the identification of assets in this phase the organization identifies the assets. The second phase, focuses on identification of threats to each asset. It is important to understand that most of the threats come from the fact that weaknesses, or vulnerabilities, exist in the assets of the business (Clark, 2014). The third phase known as the impact analysis phase. The goal of impact analysis is to identify what the result of the threat occurring would be on the business (Clark, 2014). The fourth phase known as threat prioritization. In this ph ase the organization needs to prioritize the threats against each asset. You must prioritize the threats based on their impact and probability of occurring (Clark, 2014). The fifth phase, known as mitigation is the step that in most cases implements a security control to lower the risk associated with a threat. This is the phase where a control is implemented to reduce the risks, threats and liabilities. The last and final step, is evaluation of residual risk. This is looking at the remaining threats and deciding if the organization has properly mitigated the risk. It is critical to express this residual risk to management and decide if you are willing to accept that residual risk or need to implement additional solutions (Clark, 2014). True, under both HIPAA and GLBA it calls for an implementation of IT security policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines. GLBA is comprised of the Privacy Rule, Safeguard Rule, and Pretexting Rule. The safe guards rule calls for each of the regulatory agencies to establish security standards. The FTC Safeguards Rule requires financial institutions to create a written information security program (Grama , 2015). HIPAA also calls for a similar implementation of security policies. 45 C.F.R. 164.316 calls for covered entities and business associates to, implement reasonable and appropriate policies and procedures to comply with the standards, implementation specifications, or other requirements of this subpart, taking into account those factors specified in statute 164.306(b)(2). It is important to identify where privacy data resides so that proper controls can be placed on that privacy data. This is also important so that management and staff know if any changes made to places where privacy data resides, they leave the protections planned for and implemented in place. This is important for those organizations who are required to follow legislation such as the GLBA and HIPPA. I choose the workstations in the user domain indicated in B in the lab manual. The operational control I choose is AC-9 which informs the user upon successful login, the last day and time of login. This is important because it give the user information relative to the last time their credentials were used. If a user was not at work or did not logon on the last logon shown they would be aware that their credentials have been used by someone else. The one technical control I choose for this piece of hardware is AU-3 which lays out the ground work in regards to audit records. This is important because unsuccessful, and successful logins will be recorded in the audit logs. The managerial control I choose to apply, is AC-2 which involves controls on account management. This is important for workstations to control access. It also defines who should have access to different resources and monitors the use of the information system accounts. References Fowler, S.
